About the Scholarship
The PM Yashasvi (Vibrant India) Scholarship is a Central Government scheme initiated by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. This scholarship provides crucial financial assistance to meritorious students belonging to the Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC), and De-notified, Nomadic, and Semi-nomadic Tribes (DNT) categories. The program aims to support their education in Class 9 and Class 11, enabling them to pursue studies in government or recognized private schools across India. It is designed to alleviate financial burdens and encourage academic excellence among underserved communities.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Must be enrolled in Class 9 or Class 11.
- Applicable for all streams.
- Minimum 60% marks required in the previous exam.
Financial & Category
- Income Limit: Up to ₹2.5 Lakh per year.
- Applicable Categories: OBC, EBC, DNT.
Important Notes
- Only for OBC, EBC, and DNT categories.
- Cannot hold any other educational scholarship simultaneously.
- Must score 60% in the previous class.
- Students in government, government-aided, or recognized private schools can apply.
Selection Process
- Merit-based selection considering 60% minimum marks in the previous class.
- Priority given to students from OBC, EBC, and DNT categories.
- Income limit strictly enforced (below ₹2.5 lakh).
- Verification by concerned authorities.
Renewal Policy
- Renewable annually subject to maintaining eligibility criteria and academic performance.
Benefits
Financial Support
- Class 9 Students: ₹75,000 per year.
- Class 11 Students: ₹1,25,000 per year.
Inclusions
- Covers tuition, books, and other educational expenses.
- Scholarship amount is transferred directly to the student's bank account.
Note: A separate Pre-Matric scheme is also available (₹4,000/year for Classes 9-10 in government schools), but this is distinct from the PM Yashasvi Scholarship.
