Eligibility Criteria

  • Age Limit: 21 to 38 years as of January 1, 2026 (relaxations for reserved categories).
  • Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree from a recognized university.
  • Domicile: Must be a permanent resident of Assam.
  • Language: Proficiency in Assamese or other official state languages.

Selection Process

The selection process is conducted in three successive stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination (Objective Type):
    • Purpose: Screening test only; marks are not counted for the final merit list.
    • Structure: Two papers of 200 marks each (General Studies I & II/CSAT).
    • Negative Marking:
    • marks deducted for wrong answers.
    • Note: GS Paper I requires 30–35% questions related to Assam; GS II is qualifying (33% minimum).

  2. Main Examination (Descriptive & Objective):
    • Purpose: Final selection evaluation.
    • Structure: Comprises six papers, including Assamese/alternative language, English, General Studies (I-IV), and an Essay paper.
    • Total Marks: Roughly 1500 marks.
    • Venue: Usually conducted in Guwahati.

  3. Interview / Personality Test:
    • Purpose: Tests intellectual traits, social traits, and interest in current affairs.
    • Weightage: 180 marks.
    • Ratio: Candidates are called in a 1:3 ratio based on the vacancy count.

How to Apply

  1. One-Time Registration (OTR): Go to apscrecruitment.in and click "Register Here". Enter your name, mobile number, and email ID to create a login ID and password.
  2. Log In: Log in using your credentials.
  3. Select Examination: Choose "APSC CCE Preliminary Examination 2026".
  4. Fill Application Form: Enter personal details, educational qualifications, address, and post preferences.
  5. Upload Documents: Upload scanned photograph, signature, and necessary certificates (50 KB - 200 KB in JPG/JPEG format).
  6. Fee Payment: Pay the application fee online using a credit/debit card, net banking, or UPI.
  7. Submit & Print: Review all details carefully, submit, and print the application form and payment receipt for future reference.
